Oh, Nothing Really
I'm feeling a lot like my nose today--ready to blow.
This is an account of my time in China teaching English. It is intended soley for my family and friends, thus the contents of this Web site are mine and do not reflect the opinions or position of the U.S. Government or the Peace Corps.
I'm back from an amazing trip to the bay, though I'm feeling a little empty now that everyone is gone and moving on with their lives. But I couldn't have asked for a better birthday, being surrounded by some of the most important people in my life (too many of you weren't there). Somehow the amalgamation of my friends worked perfectly. It's a week that'll sustain me in China. Leah & Havilah, thanks for your gracious hospitality! I am not being superfluous when I tell you that I adore you both.
It's been pretty easy to put my Peace Corps departure date at the back of my mind, since I had my San Francisco trip coming before. Now that the San Francisco week is in my grasp, I've nothing to distract me from the reality that I'm moving to China in two months. Oh my.
Is it sad to admit that the best thing to happen to me all week was my dentist appointment this afternoon?
The Bollywood gods seem to be smiling on me again. I found out that Fanaa, my most anticipated film of 2006, is going to be released before I move to China. This means that I will get to see Kajol's comeback on the big screen! I probably shouldn't get my hopes up very high, but I expect this movie to be wonderful. It's directed by Kunal Kohli (Hum Tum) and stars one of India's most repected and best actors, Aamir Khan, who will be romantically paired for the first time onscreen with the equally talented Kajol. Tabu, my other favorite Indian actress, also stars in this, along with Rishi Kapoor and Kiron Kher. And it's produced by Yash Raj. How can any of this be bad?
